About Us

Welcome to our travel blog.

Rick and I met each other 36 years ago at the airport hotel where I worked as the night auditor.  He had decided to get a job working graveyard so he could go back to school.  Hence, I was supposed to train him to do the night audit.  He lasted two weeks.  He and the graveyard shift didn’t agree. I concluded he was untrainable, but handsome.  Fortunately, after he changed to a job, with normal hours, he came to meet me for breakfast every morning after I got off work and before I went to school.  And we have now been married for 31 years. We have grown children, Ali and Logan, who love to travel and have taken some amazing trips themselves.

Here’s a photo of us on our boat (the first piece of property we owned), before we were married and before we had kids.

Rick eventually did go back to school and got his electrical engineering degree.  He retired earlier this year from his position as Power Systems Supervising Engineer at one of the largest utilities in the U.S. The first thing he did was take a motorcycle road trip from Northern California to Deadhorse, Alaska. He will tell you more about that in his Alaska blog post, but the trip took him about five weeks, and he rode over 9,000 miles. In his spare time, he loves flying his drone, going on hikes and scuba diving.

I got my B.S. in Marketing and later my Masters in Information Science, concentrating in user experience research/design.  I have worked in the software development industry for 30 years and just retired. Having worked in almost every aspect of software development, I have a lot of experience planning, researching and managing things. I’m particularly good at planning trips and will share tips, tricks, and tools I use to create some amazing trips. In my spare time, I love photographing waterfalls, hiking and scuba diving too.

Last month we took a trip to the Florida Keys to go diving, and we met up with some friends of ours that we haven’t seen in a while. After talking about some of our recent trips, our friend, Lupita, said, “you guys should write a travel blog.” We think that’s a pretty good idea.

Here’s a photo of us with our friends in Key West. That’s us on the left. Alex and Lupita are on the right.

We love traveling the world and look forward to sharing our experiences with the hope that you get excited about seeing the world too.
